What is this Order?
The Chivalric Order of St Cecilia of Rome is an Order of Knighthood that honors men and women who hold degrees in The Liberal Arts and parallel studies. The Order also includes those who are accomplished in the field, regardless of degree.
What Are the Purposes and Goals of The Order?
The Chivalric Order of St. Cecilia is an honor of distinction that is conferred upon those men and women who hold an academic credential from an accredited institution of higher learning in any of the Liberal Arts or parallel studies.
The Liberal Arts are herein defined as the Trivium (grammar, rhetoric and logic) and the Quadrivium (arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy), as well as the related degrees in Humanities, the Fine Arts, Education, Social Sciences, the Healing Arts, Performance Arts, and other artistic endeavors, as defined by the granting institution. This Order may also be conferred upon those who distinguish themselves in any one of these herein named disciplines, regardless of academic degree.
The Chivalric Order of St. Cecilia of Rome, from time to time, sponsors an Arts Program at which music or poetry/literature readings or similar demonstrations of the Arts may be presented.
Who Are Its Leaders?
Its recent Grand Master was H.E. the Marquis de Challange (Dr. William Challenger) who served until his death on September 20, 2012. His immediate successor to the Office of Grand Master is H.S.H. Prince Lloyd, Duke of Maxalla. The second Grand Master expanded the scope of the Order to honor those in the entire field of The Liberal Arts and allied fields. Prince Lloyd is also Royal Patron of the Order.
Does the Order Confer Genuine Knighthood?
Yes, this Order confers an actual knighthood. Knights of the Order receive the title of “Dame” or “Chevalier” which can be used as the holder wishes. As an independent and self-governing body, legally and traditionally established in international law, The Chivalric Order of St. Cecilia operates under its own constitution and with Patronage from the Royal House of Maxalla. Further, this independent Order is not a part of and bears no allegiance or obedience to, nor is influenced by any regional, national, international, or supranational authority, government, or organization.
Entry into The Order
To receive the Accolade of Knight of St Cecilia, the man or woman must be twenty-one years of age or older, must qualify as per Article 2 of the Order’s Constitution, and must be nominated by a Knight of The Order on the appropriate form.
