Holy Michael the Archangel
Captain of the Bodiless Hosts of Heaven
The Patron of The Religious and Military Order
Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem
St. Michael the Archangel
This mighty archangel's name is actually a declaration in the Hebrew language: "Who is as God?" Michael makes his appearances in both Old and New Testaments, as well as in Sacred Tradition where he is identified as the Defender of Heaven in the war against evil. In both Eastern and Western art, as in the illustration above, Michael is shown as victor over evil. In both Western and Eastern Orders of Chivalry, as in both Western and Eastern Christianity, Michael is called upon for strength in battle. Many Orders of Chivalry hold St. Michael to be the Patron of Chivalry.
Chevaliers and Dames of The Religious and Military Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem draw upon the example of Michael's holy strength and sacred dedication.
