THE FOUNDING OF THE COLORADO PRIORY OF
THE ASSOCIATION OF KNIGHTS TEMPLAR OF SCOTLAND AND WALES
Prince Lloyd first met the Marquis de Chalange at a religious conference in southern France in July of 2007. The Marquis, a Master Organist, was playing music for the conference, and, as such, was vested in organist's robes and was also wearing the Grand Collar of the Templars, which Prince Lloyd noted. Conversation followed about the Templars of Scotland and Wales, and the Marquis revealed that he was Magnus Praefectus of the Scottish Knights Templar International and Grand Commander of the Welsh Commandery of the Association of Knights Templar of Wales and Scotland, having been elected to the office concurrently with Alistair McIntyre Oattes, Praefectus and Grand Prior of the Scottish Commandery of the Association of Knights Templar of Wales and Scotland (d. 2012).
During the discussion, the Marquis expressed his wish to establish a branch of his Templar Order in the USA. Plans and arrangements were made, and on April 16, 2008, Grand Commander William Challenger of the Knights Templar of Scotland and Wales, traveled to Greeley, Colorado from Pontypool, Wales to create new Templar Knights and to establish the Grand Priory of Colorado of The Welsh Commandery of the Association of Knights Templar of Wales and Scotland. Accompanying the Magnus Praefectus was Chev. Alan Gibbon, the Grand Sword Bearer of the Order. Our beloved Marquis died of a massive heart attack on September 20, 2012; he was a long time resident of Pontypool, Wales. Chev. Gibbon is also a resident of Wales.
Several persons from throughout the United States attended the ceremonies, many of whom also were made Templars. See the slide show, below. This Templar Order admits women, as did the first Templars (for evidence of the admission of women, see The Knights Templar Encyclopedia by Vatican Historian and Archivist, Karen Ralls).

Almost all the new Templars Invested at the Founding of the Grand Priory were also Knights of the Holy Sepulchre. While the OKHS and the Scottish Templars are separate and independent Chivalric Orders, a close association between the two Orders was well established at the Founding of the Colorado Grand Priory. The Grand Priory has held Conclaves and Investitures annually and biennially since its Founding in 2008, usually following immediately after the closing ceremonies of the Holy Sepulchre General Assembly.
